Hadid, Zaha

Born

1950

Information   Zaha Hadid is considered to be the leading exponent, world-wide of deconstructivism in architecture. The buildings she designs have no fixed visual points. The conventions of central perspective are suspended; the completely unusual combination of the basic elements of ceiling, wall and opening leads to a new experience of space. The exuberant variety of Hadid’s formal language can best be studied in her numerous drawings and paintings. One of her most famous executed buildings is the „Vitra fire station“ in Weil am Rhein. Her work also extends to furniture and interior design, exhibition architecture and large-scale drafts for urban development.
