Schlemmer, Oskar

Born

1888

Died

1943

Information   Taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1920 to 1929. His paintings and reliefs are strictly geometrically structured. They show abstract human forms that seem permanently installed within. Everything individual and coincidental is excluded and allows the artist to create a work on a metaphysical level. „ I want to create a type and not a portait, and I want to capture the nature of a room and not its interior“.
